Services

Play Therapy

Individual or Family

The natural language of a child is play and toys are their words. Through the therapeutic powers of play, therapists help children to facilitate communication, foster emotional wellness, enhance social relationships, and increase personal strengths. Sessions may be facilitated individually with your child or involve one or more family members. Sessions may incorporate puppets, sandtrays, art supplies, dolls, blocks, stuffed animals, dress up, or various other toys. Play therapy supports children and their families in reflecting, exploring, and problem solving. There are many types of play therapy which you can learn more about here.

Theraplay®

Parent and Child

Theraplay® is an attachment-based family play therapy modality. It is based on the responsive, attuned, co-regulating, and playful patterns of interaction between caregivers and their babies that lead to secure attachment and life-long social-emotional health. The therapist guides the parent and child through structured play activities that lead to relational connection, increased understanding, and reduction of unwanted behaviors. Theraplay empowers parents to better understand and meet their child’s underlying needs and supports the child in building resiliency. Learn more about process of Theraplay® here.
